Privacy Policy

RxScan Guide™
Legal version: 2026-08-05-v2
Effective date: 2026-08-05

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how RxScan Guide™ (the “Application”), developed and operated by RxScan Technologies Inc., handles information.

2. General operation and no account

RxScan Guide™ works without creating a user account and does not create a named profile. The Application helps read a medication list and display educational content. It does not intentionally request a name, address, health insurance number or medical identifier.

3. Data processed locally

The Application processes on the device the photos selected or taken by the user, optical character recognition (OCR) text, recognized or unrecognized medications, displayed results, language, favourites, consent choices and preferences required for its operation. A photo or its text may contain visible sensitive information.

During normal use, photos and OCR text are used to produce the result in the Application and are not sent to RxScan Technologies Inc., except through the optional report described below or when the user voluntarily initiates sharing through an external service.

4. Optional improvement reports

A separate, revocable option allows automatic submission of an improvement report after a photo analysis. No report is sent while this consent is not active.

When enabled, the PDF report may contain the analyzed photo, OCR text, recognized or unrecognized medications, a report/analysis identifier, date and time, image source (camera or gallery), language and locale, Application, engine and data versions, image dimensions and size measurements, processing events, performance timings, errors and quality diagnostics. The system attempts to redact certain sensitive elements from technical text, but a photo may still show visible information.

The report is uploaded to storage infrastructure used by RxScan Technologies Inc. and forwarded to the designated report service to analyze recognition, stability, speed and Guide card quality.

5. Platform technical data

Depending on the distribution platform and device settings, device or app store systems may process download, compatibility, performance or crash data under their own policies. RxScan Guide™ does not integrate a user account or an Application-specific advertising profile.

6. DATA RETENTION

Data that remains only on the device is retained according to the features used and the device settings. Photos temporarily copied to prepare a report are removed from the Application's working storage after the report is queued. Local reports are removed after successful transmission. Reports that remain eligible for retry expire after seven days; however, a terminally failed report may remain on the device until participation is turned off, Application data is cleared, or the Application is uninstalled.

Reports received by RxScan Technologies Inc. are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to review the relevant recognition, quality or stability issue, document the follow-up and respond to a related request. The current version does not promise a fixed automatic server-side deletion period. Reports are deleted or anonymized when they are no longer needed for these purposes.

Some data may be retained longer only when required by law or when necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights, prevent fraud or protect system security.

7. DATA DELETION

Because no account is created, no sign-in is required to request deletion. The user may email contact@rxscantechnologies.ca with the subject “Data deletion request – RxScan Guide” or follow the public data deletion page.

To locate a report without an account, the request should provide only the available and necessary details: approximate analysis or submission date and time, device model, language used, report/analysis identifier if displayed, and any other minimal helpful detail. Do not send a new medication-list photo or a medical identifier.

RxScan Technologies Inc. confirms receipt by email, searches for data that can reasonably be associated with the supplied details, and then deletes the locatable copies under its control, subject to any applicable legal or security exception. The outcome, or inability to locate a report, is confirmed by email. RxScan Technologies Inc. cannot remotely erase data stored only on the device; the user can turn off participation, clear Application data or uninstall the Application.

8. OCR and educational content

OCR and recognition can be wrong. Extracted text, detected medication names and suggested cards must be verified against the original list or packaging. The Application does not diagnose and must not be used to start, stop or change a treatment.

9. Advertising and sale of data

RxScan Technologies Inc. does not sell user information and does not use medication lists for advertising purposes.

10. Security

Users should protect their device and avoid photographing or sharing sensitive information when it is not necessary. No information system can guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes

RxScan Technologies Inc. may update this Policy to reflect the evolution of RxScan Guide™. The applicable version is the version published on the official pages.
